Disruptions, including delays and cancellations, may affect flights scheduled to arrive at and depart from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) through at least May 3 due to heavy rainfall, consequent flooding, and traffic congestion. Kenya Airways (KQ) cautioned travelers on May 2 that its flights departing from NBO may experience "extended delays" due to the heavy rainfall and traffic in the city.
Additional airlines may make similar announcements over the short term and report disruptions to their flights that are scheduled to arrive at or depart from NBO. Any flight backlogs that materialize may exacerbate delay times.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via NBO. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow additional time to travel to the airport. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
