Sweden: Unionized healthcare workers plan to strike in several regions June 4

Unionized healthcare workers to strike in in at least six regions across Sweden, from 11:00 June 4. Reconfirm medical appointments.

Informational

Unionized medical workers affiliated with the Vardforbundet union plan to strike in the Ostergotland, Skane, Stockholm, Vasterbotten, and Vastra Gotaland regions on June 4. The purpose of the labor action is to demand shorter working hours. Participants will walk off the job at 11:00; in remains unclear when the work stoppage will end.

Unless averted, the strike will likely prompt widespread disruptions to medical services in the affected regions; healthcare facilities will almost certainly continue to provide urgent care, however. Striking workers could picket outside hospitals and clinics, as well as near Ministry of Health offices. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are possible near any demonstrations that may materialize.

Reconfirm all planned medical or business appointments scheduled for June 4 at health facilities in the affected regions. Avoid all protests as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any demonstrations.
