Ukraine: Authorities to implement partial power shutdown nationwide 00:01-07:00 and 18:00-23:59 May 22

Ukrainian energy provider Ukrenergo is planning to implement power outages for industrial and domestic consumers nationwide 00:01-07:00 and 18:00-23:59 May 22. Authorities indicate that critical infrastructure will not be affected. Ukrenergo cites damage to national energy infrastructure caused by Russian military strikes as the reason for the outage.

Transport, business, and telecommunications disruptions will likely affect areas subject to power outages. Malfunctioning traffic signals may disrupt traffic flow in some areas and lead to longer driving times. The electricity disruptions could also result in the temporary unavailability of facilities such as ATMs and gas stations. Additionally, power disruptions could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during the blackouts.
