Cameroon: Officials implement COVID-19 screening at international airports as of June 28

Officials in Cameroon implement COVID-19 screening at international airports as of June 28. No restrictions in place.

Informational

As of June 28, officials have implemented screening at international airports to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Upon arrival in Cameroon, international travelers will be asked to fill out an identification form. Suspected cases will be mandatorily tested, while travelers arriving from the Hajj Islamic pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia can be voluntarily tested. Officials have not indicated whether travelers who test positive will be quarantined or isolated. The Ministry of Health announced that the care of patients who tested positive would be free of charge. Officials have also recommended the use of facemasks for those with flu symptoms, social distancing, and handwashing.

The measure will likely cause some delays upon arrival in Cameroon. Depending on disease activity over the coming weeks, authorities could extend, ease, or otherwise amend the measure with little to no notice.

Follow all official instructions. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation.
