Finland: Environment activists plan to stage a protest in Helsinki on June 30

Environmental activists affiliated with Extinction Rebellion plan to demonstrate in Helsinki on June 30 to demand the government take action to address climate change. The demonstration is the culminating event for the "Storm Warning" campaign. Participants intend to rally in front of the Parliament House at 13:00 before marching to the Government Palace and the Supreme Court; the event is scheduled to end at 17:00. It was not immediately clear how many demonstrators would attend; however, attendance at previous protests has reached several hundred.

Local authorities will likely deploy additional security to protest events. Protesters are likely to block roads and disrupt traffic in the vicinity of protest locations. Scuffles are possible between frustrated motorists and activists.
