Ghana: Activists likely to continue protests in Accra through at least early July

Activists likely to stage further protests at the Ministry of Finance in Accra, Ghana, through at least early July. Disruptions likely.

Informational

Further protests are likely through at least early July in front of the Ministry of Finance in Accra. Protesters affiliated with the Locked-Up Investment Holders Forum gathered in front of the ministry on June 12 and 19, from 09:00 each day, at the NDK Financial Services building and marched towards the ministry to demand the release of funds reportedly blocked in financial institutions. Organizers have vowed to picket each Wednesday until officials answer their grievances.

An increased security presence and localized road congestion are likely along the march route and in front of the ministry. While previous gatherings were peaceful, clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protests as a precaution. Plan for extra travel time near the affected area. Leave the area at the first sign of unrest. Heed instructions from authorities.
