Emergency crews responding to wildfire near Mount Scopus, East Jerusalem, as of early June 26. Heightened security likely.

Warning

Crews are responding to a wildfire burning in the Mount Scopus area of East Jerusalem as of early June 26. At least 25 fire crews are responding to the site of the blaze, which reportedly began in Isawiya before spreading south. Flames have reportedly reached the grounds of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; flames are also reported near Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital and Ofrit military base. As of early June 26, no casualties related to the fire had been reported.

Heightened security is likely near the fire response area. Depending on the progression of the wildfires, the status of nearby roads could change over the coming hours. Authorities may close routes near the wildfire complexes or evacuate communities due to fire activity. Low visibility from smoke and possible ashfall could contribute to traffic delays and congestion in the region.

Strictly heed all instructions from authorities. Seek updated information on road conditions if driving in the affected area; road closures and detours will cause increased congestion and delays. Collect essential items - including identification and any important legal and travel documents - in an easily accessible "go-bag."

Individuals not under evacuation warnings should consider remaining inside well-ventilated, air-conditioned spaces to reduce exposure to smoke. Individuals with chronic respiratory illnesses may be more susceptible to the negative effects of smoke inhalation. Eye irritation is possible; flush irritated eyes with copious amounts of clean water.
