Italy: Railway workers to stage eight-hour nationwide strike June 3

Railroad workers employed by the Italian Railway Network (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, RFI) have announced plans for an eight-hour nationwide strike between the hours of 09:00-17:00 on June 3. Union leaders have not declared the purpose of the work stoppage; however, labor-related disputes have prompted multiple similar actions in recent weeks. As part of the strike, participating workers could rally near the offices of national rail operator Ferrovie dello Stato.

Unless averted, the work stoppage will probably prompt some rail travel delays, although it remains unclear how extensive such disruptions may be; Italian law requires that workers in strategically important sectors - including mass transport - maintain a minimum guaranteed level of service during labor strikes. Localized traffic disruptions are possible near any potential rally or demonstration sites.
