Italy: Unionized taxi drivers call off nationwide strike slated for June 5-6 /update 1

Unionized taxi drivers in Italy have called off a planned 48-hour nationwide strike following recent talks with representatives of the Ministry of Transport. The work stoppage had originally been slated to take place from 00:01 June 5 through 23:59 June 6; participating unions suspended the action after receiving certain assurances from the government, along with an appointment for additional talks on June 17.
