Lebanon: Israeli strike reportedly kills at least one person in Sohmor June 27
Israeli strike reported in Sohmor in Beka'a Valley, Lebanon, June 27. Further cross-border violence likely.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly conducted a strike in Sohmor in the Beka'a Valley on June 27. Reports claim that the strike targeted an individual on a motorcycle. It is unclear as to whether the targeted individual was linked to the Lebanese Hizballah (LH) or other militant organizations operating in Lebanon. The IDF's strike comes amid the regular launch of projectiles by the LH militant group targeting northern Israeli communities.
Heightened security, transport disruptions, and business disruptions are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Further cross-border violence is likely in the short term.
Avoid the impacted location until authorities give the all-clear. Plan for localized disruptions. Allow additional time for travel and seek alternative routes to circumvent the affected area. Heed all official directives.
The IDF has regularly retaliated against projectile attacks by LH; however, it has increasingly begun targeting LH's military infrastructure deeper inside Lebanon in an effort to deter the militant group from further attacks.
