Activists plan to march in Te Aro suburb in Wellington, New Zealand, from 13:00 June 8. Increased security, transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Several activist groups plan to march from Pukeahu National War Memorial Park to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa (also known as Te Papa) in the Te Aro suburb, Wellington, from 13:00 June 8. The purpose of the action is to denounce various government policies, in particular budget cuts for public services. Hundreds to several thousand participants could join the rally.

Heightened security and localized disruption will likely occur along the march route. Although violence is unlikely, isolated scuffles are possible if police attempt to forcibly disperse the gathering.

Avoid the protest march as a precaution. In the event of violence, leave the area immediately for a secure, nongovernment building. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent march route. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
