Taiwan: Taiwan People's Party to protest at Rongxing Garden in Taipei from 18:30-20:30 June 22

Taiwan People's Party to protest at Rongxing Garden in Taipei, Taiwan, 18:30-20:30 June 22. Increased security likely. Scuffles possible.

Informational

The Taiwan People's Party (TPP) plans to hold a protest at the Rongxing Garden in Taipei between 18:30-20:30 on June 22. Protesters will denounce the alleged corruption of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and support the contempt of parliament bill. This bill would give Taiwan's parliament more power to interrogate and investigate the executive. Participation will likely be in the low thousands.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely around the Rongxing Garden. Police will likely deploy to monitor the demonstrations and may erect security barricades. Minor scuffles are possible if authorities attempt to forcibly disperse the gathering.

Exercise caution around the protest site. In the event of violence, leave the area immediately for a secure, nongovernment building. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent rally sites. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
