Ukraine: US Embassy issues alert June 4 regarding leaving conditions for double-nationality citizens from Ukraine
US Embassy publishes alert on June 4 referencing a change in Ukrainian legislation regarding double-nationality citizens traveling abroad.
The US Embassy in Kyiv issued a message on June 4 regarding Ukraine's recent changes in legislation for military-aged males' possibility to depart the country; the measure impacts Ukrainian citizens with double nationalities. Reportedly, since June 1, Ukrainian policymakers forbid Ukrainian males aged 18-60 residing abroad from leaving the country due to the ongoing conflict. Dual-nationality citizens are included in the measure, as Ukrainian authorities do not recognize a second nationality for Ukrainian passport holders. The new legislative action excludes military-aged males not subject to the military draft or with the right of deferment.
