Cabo Verde: Airline pilots plan to strike nationwide July 27-Aug. 1 /update 1

Cabo Verde Airlines (VR) pilots affiliated with the National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (Sindicato Nacional dos Pilotos da Aviacao Civil) plan to strike from July 27 to Aug. 1. The purpose of the action is to press several demands, including improved operational safety, timely processing of salary payments, and better occupational health conditions, among other things. Unless averted, the work stoppage will probably cause disruptions across the carrier's network, primarily impacting international flights; however, airline officials have announced they may utilize charter aircraft on certain routes to avoid flight cancellations. Increased demand for bookings on alternative airlines is likely.
