Germany: Activists to stage two demonstrations in Berlin July 6

Activists to stage two demonstrations in Berlin, Germany, in afternoon and evening July 6; increased security, transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Activists plan to conduct two separate, unrelated demonstrations in Berlin on July 6. Some 200 activists will reportedly stage a silent march from Wittenbergplatz at 14:00 to express various grievances, including with regard to the "arms industry...inhumane politics...[and individuals allegedly] damaged by vaccinations." Protest participants intend to march through several streets before returning to Wittenbergplatz and ending the demonstration at around 19:00. Additionally, as many as 50 demonstrators are planning to stage a rally at Potsdamer Platz 14:00-17:00 to demand "Peace."

Authorities will probably deploy a heightened security presence in the affected parts of Berlin to monitor the demonstrations. Localized transport disruptions will likely affect areas subject to protest activity. Police may close local roads to traffic on short notice to facilitate the demonstrations. Counterprotests may materialize near the abovementioned rallies. Confrontations between protesters and police, or between rival groups of demonstrators, cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the demonstrations as a precaution. Consider taking alternative routes to circumvent areas affected by protest activity and allow extra time for travel in Berlin. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
