Ghana: Civil servants threaten to strike nationwide July 3

Unionized civil servants threaten to strike across Ghana over salary issues July 3. Related protests possible.

Informational

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has threatened to strike nationwide on July 3. The union demands the implementation of a salary agreement signed with the government.

If the government fails to answer their demand and the strike goes ahead, it may cause disruptions to public utilities. Related protests are also possible near government offices such as the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations in Accra. Increased security and localized congestion are likely near all gatherings.

Confirm all appointments at public offices for the duration of the strike. Avoid all protests. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
