Lebanon: Israeli drone strikes reported in multiple areas in Nabatieh and South governorates early July 28
Israeli drone strikes target multiple areas in Nabatieh and South governorates, Lebanon, July 28. Further cross-border violence likely.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly conducted drone strikes in multiple areas in southern Lebanon, including Aabbassiyeh and Burj al-Shamali in Tyre District in South Governorate and Khiam and Kfar Kela in Nabatieh Governorate, early July 28. Preliminary reports indicate minor injuries following the strikes. The strikes came after a rocket attack hit a soccer field in the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights July 27; Israeli officials have attributed the attack to the Lebanese Hizballah (LH).
Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence around the site of the drone strikes over the coming hours. Transport disruptions may affect areas subject to increased security. Further cross-border violence is likely over the short term.
Avoid the impacted location until authorities give the all-clear. Plan for localized disruptions, allow additional time for travel, and seek alternative routes to circumvent the affected area. Heed all official directives.
The IDF has regularly retaliated against projectile attacks by the LH. Additionally, the IDF has increasingly begun to target the LH's military infrastructure deeper inside Lebanon in an effort to deter the militant group from carrying out further attacks.
