Lebanon: Targeted Israeli strike kills senior Hizballah militant leader near Tyre July 3

Senior Hizballah leader killed in targeted Israeli strike near Tyre, Lebanon, July 3. Avoid the area. Further violence likely.

Warning

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly killed Mohammad Nimah Nasser, who served as a division commander within the Lebanese Hizballah (LH) militant group, in Tyre on July 3. Nasser commanded the LH's Aziz unit, one of southern Lebanon's three regional divisions, and was, according to the IDF, the second most senior commander within the LH it has eliminated since the killing of the Nasr regional unit commander in June.

Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. The LH could respond to Nasser's killing by launching a projectile attack against Israel over the coming hours or days.

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Plan for localized disruptions and seek alternative routes to circumvent the impacted location. Heed all official directives. Seek alternative routes and allow additional time to reach destinations if operating in the impacted area.

The latest Israeli strike comes amid the ongoing cross-border violence between the IDF and LH militants. The IDF's objective is to deter the militants from further attacks against Israel and to force them to withdraw from areas near the country's border with Lebanon.
