Authorities are reportedly responding to a security incident in the Al Wadi al Kabir area of Muscat as of early July 16. Preliminary and eyewitness reports suggest that an unknown number of gunmen opened fire on bystanders during a gathering and killed or wounded an unspecified number of people. Local authorities have yet to confirm or comment on the situation; however, the Pakistani Ambassador to Oman has delivered special instructions urging the Pakistani community in Muscat to cooperate with local officials during the emergency situation.
