Warning

Further violent clashes are possible between the Boshehra and Maleekhel tribes over a land dispute in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through at least early August. Initial clashes involving gunfire erupted on July 24 with intermittent attempts to call for a ceasefire. Isolated incidents have since occurred in several parts of the district, including Peewar, Tangi, Balishkhel, Khaar Kalay, Maqbal, Kunj Alizai, Para Chamkani, and Karman. As of July 30, the violence has left at least 49 killed and 200 others wounded.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence and could implement enhanced restrictions, including temporary public movement curbs, depending on operational needs. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are highly likely. Retaliatory or opportunistic attacks, mainly on government, police, and military personnel and/or facilities may occur. Typical tactics include small-scale bombings using vehicles or suicide attackers.

Exercise increased caution if operating in or near Kurram District. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Plan accordingly for potential transport and business disruptions. Maintain contact with your diplomatic mission. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
