Pakistan: No disruptions reported as of July 22 after Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan party ends sit-in protest at the Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad /update 2

No lingering disruptions affecting Faizabad Interchange, Islamabad, Pakistan, as of July 22 after sit-in protest concludes.

Informational

Security and traffic curbs have eased in Islamabad as of July 22 after the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party ended their sit-in protest at the Faizabad Interchange late July 19. Thousands of supporters had gathered since July 13 to demand the government deliver aid to Palestine, announce a boycott of Israeli products, and declare Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a terrorist. The action resulted in significant disruptions to intercity traffic to and from Islamabad and prompted heavy security deployment, but was called off after assurances by government officials.

Renewed protests are possible if the government fails to fulfill its promises of aid delivery by July 31 or reneges on other commitments.

Avoid any demonstrations that materialize as a standard precaution. Monitor trusted local media for new protest plans as organizers may not announce them in advance. Heed all security and traffic advisories.
