Pakistan: Peshawar's Bacha Khan International Airport closed until 11:00 July 12
Flight disruptions to occur at Peshawar's Bacha Khan International Airport, Pakistan, until 11:00 July 12 due to aircraft accident.
Officials have closed Peshawar's Bacha Khan International Airport (PEW) until 11:00 July 12 following a Saudia (SV) aircraft catching fire while landing at the airport. All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft. Initial reports suggest the fire erupted at the landing gear of the aircraft. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
International flights have been redirected to other airports. Saudia, Gulf Air (GF), Fly Jinnah (F9), Pakistan International Airlines (PK), and SereneAir (ER) flights have been affected. Domestic and international flights may experience rescheduling, delays, and cancellations during the closure. Residual disruptions are possible after the airport reopens as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
Reconfirm flights if scheduled to travel via PEW in the coming days. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Arrive early at the airport to allow additional time for processing.
