Pakistan: Tehreek Tahafuz Ayin political alliance to hold nationwide protests July 26 /update 1

Tehreek Tahafuz Ayin political alliance to stage protests across Pakistan 15:00 July 26. Increased security, transport disruptions likely.

Warning

The Tehreek Tahafuz Ayin (TTAP) political alliance has announced plans to protest nationwide in every constituency from 15:00 on July 26. This is to demand the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party leader Imran Khan while denouncing the alleged deterioration of law and order across the state. The most significant gatherings will occur in urban centers, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. Participation will vary across regions, with significant cities likely having thousands of participants.

Additional unannounced rallies are possible on July 26. Popular gathering spots include government buildings, public squares, press clubs, major intersections, and prominent monuments. Authorities will almost certainly monitor protests and move to disperse overly disruptive crowds. Localized transport disruptions are likely near gathering sites; officials may impose traffic curbs near well-attended rallies. Clashes between police and activists are possible. Large demonstrations may also result in localized business disruptions.

Avoid all demonstrations due to possible violence. Do not navigate roadblocks as protesters may attack vehicles. If clashes break out, leave the area immediately for a secure building. Allow additional travel time in affected areas. Monitor trusted local media on protest details as organizers may not announce them in advance. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
