Portugal: Medical workers plan to strike nationwide, protest in several locations July 23-24

Unionized medical staff plan to strike across Portugal on July 23-24. The purpose of the industrial action is to denounce delays to salary negotiations. Participants are also conducting a work-to-rule strike until August 31. Participants will conduct the following protests July 23:

• Coimbra: Hospital Geral Covoes (also known as Centro Hospitalar de Coimbra) from 10:00.

• Lisbon: Hospital de Santa Maria from 11:00.

• Porto: Hospital de Sao Joao from 09:00.

Medical service disruptions are likely in Portugal July 23-24. Disruptions might continue through early July 5 as medical staff clears the backlog caused during the 48-hour strike.
