Municipal services in Cape Town have warned of likely water supply disruptions amid ongoing maintenance work through July 18. Authorities have asked residents to store water ahead of the disruptions. Affected suburbs include:

  • 08:00-18:00 July 16: Heron Park, Blue Waters, Imhoffs Farm, Ocean View, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Masiphumelele.

  • 09:00-18:00 July 17: Lovenstein, including Jip De Jager Drive, Eksteen and Laurel Streets, and the area South towards the N1.

  • 09:00-17:00 July 18: Hout Bay, Valley Road, Longkloof Road, Boskykloof Road, Forest Hill, North Oaks Avenue, Chestnut Drive, Blackwood Drive.

  • 09:00-18:00 July 18: Claremont, including San Souci Street, the railway line, Stellenberg Avenue, and Cavendish Street.

  • 10:00-16:00 July 18: Vredekloof, Welgelee, Arauna, Morgenster, St Kilda, Marlborough Park, Brackenfell Industrial and Okavango Park.

  • 10:00 -17:00 July 18: Site C in Khayelitsha.

Short-term business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.

If operating in impacted areas, stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water.
