Activists are demonstrating near the intersection of 14th and Vliet streets in the King Park neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin State, as of late July 16, to denounce the police-involved shooting of a man earlier in the day; several hundred people are marching through the streets.

The officer-involved shooting occurred several blocks west of the security perimeter for the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, the afternoon of July 16. Reports indicate two men were fighting with knives near the intersection of 14th and Vliet streets when a police officer shot and killed one of the individuals. There is no ongoing threat to the public in the area.

Continued heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions will likely occur in the area in the coming hours amid ongoing police investigations and demonstrations. There is no indication that the incident is related to the RNC.
