More than 50 aircraft refuelers affiliated with the Transport Workers' Union (TWU) will observe a strike at Sydney Airport (SYD) in Sydney, New South Wales, 01:00-05:00, 07:00-11:00, and 18:00-22:00 Aug. 23. Workers are demanding higher wages and secure employment. Airport authorities have said flights may be impacted, particularly on longer domestic routes, such as those to Perth and Darwin, and long-haul international flights. However, they are trying to minimize any disruptions.

Low-level demonstrations or pickets and heightened security are possible at the airport during the strike periods. Lingering disruptions are possible for several hours after the work stoppages end.

Reconfirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via SYD Aug. 23. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Follow all official directives.
