Colombia: Anti-abortion activists stage protests nationwide Aug. 21

Anti-abortion activists affiliated with the umbrella organization United for Life (Unidos por la Vida) are demonstrating across Colombia on Aug. 21. The purpose of the action is to condemn the government's existing policy on abortion rights. Participants have organized demonstrations in multiple major urban centers, including Medellin and Bogota. Protests are likely to be well attended, attracting thousands of participants. Gathering places include the following:

• Bogota: Near the intersection between Carrera 13 and Calle 28

• Bucaramanga City: Near the intersection between Calle 48 and Carrera 29 from 15:00

• Barranquilla: Near the Office of the Superintendent of Health on Carrera 54
