Colombia: Indigenous activists march through Bogota on Aug. 27
Indigenous activists have launched a march through Bogota, Colombia, Aug. 27, over a series of demands.
Indigenous activists, part of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (Consejo Regional Indigena del Cauca), launched a march through parts of Bogota on the afternoon of Aug. 27. They have been in the capital for several days, demanding a meeting with President Gustavo Petro and an end to violence in their territories, among other issues. Activists march from Parque del Renacimiento to Parque de los Periodistas along Calle 26 and Calle 19.
Transport disruptions throughout their route are likely, and authorities may deploy a heightened security presence, especially near government buildings. Skirmishes cannot be ruled out along the march route.
Avoid all protests as a precaution. Plan for delays and alternative routes if operating in Bogota, Aug. 27.
