Colombia: Truckers to strike, protest nationwide Aug. 30

Unionized truck drivers affiliated with the Colombian Truck Drivers Association (Asociacion Colombiana de Camioneros) plan to strike and protest nationwide on Aug. 30 to oppose an announced increase in the cost of fuel. Organizers indicated they plan to hold caravan protests in major cities; however, they have not provided details of the locations of the demonstrations. Besides trucks, it is likely that public and school bus drivers will also join the protest actions.
