Finland: Activists to demonstrate in Helsinki Aug. 10

Activists plan to protest at the Helsinki Central Railway Station (Helsingin Paarautatieasema) in Helsinki 15:00-17:00 Aug. 10. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce alleged anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh. The number of people who may participate in the demonstration was not immediately clear.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. The protest activity and any increased security measures that authorities impose may impede pedestrian movement inside Helsinki Central Railway Station; however, rail transport disruptions are unlikely at the station. Additionally, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or ideologically opposed individuals, though unlikely, cannot be ruled out.
