Mexico: Activists plan to march in downtown Mexico City Aug. 26

Activists plan to march in central Mexico City, Mexico, from 16:00 Aug. 26; heightened security and localized disruptions likely.

Warning

At least 400 activists plan to march in downtown Mexico City from 16:00 Aug. 26. Protest participants, including family members of students kidnapped during the 2014 mass kidnapping of 43 students in Iguala, Guerrero State, are planning to stage the demonstration to demand justice from the authorities. Participants will gather at the Angel de la Independencia and march toward the Ayuntamiento Ayotzinapa #43.

Although the action should remain largely peaceful, authorities will likely deploy an increased police presence near the demonstration as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely along the march route.

Avoid the march as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near the impacted area. Seek alternative routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
