Unionized toll operators plan to strike nationwide from 10:00-12:00 and 19:00-21:00 Aug. 16-18. Workers are denouncing poor working conditions and alleged discrimination. Organizers have also called on striking workers to stage protests during the action.
The work stoppage will almost certainly cause transport and business disruptions, particularly along highways. Police will likely deploy to monitor any demonstrations that materialize.
