Clashes between police and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) have been reported in the vicinity of Wuse Market in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Aug. 25. IMN members were marching during an annual religious commemoration. Police have fired tear gas and shot live ammunition into the procession; two fatalities have been reported.
As security operations continue, heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the coming hours. Further clashes with security forces are also possible.
