Portugal: Unionized easyJet cabin crew plan nationwide strike Aug. 15-17
Unionized easyJet cabin crew members plan strike across Portugal Aug. 15-17; flight cancellations and delays likely.
Unionized easyJet (U2) cabin crew members plan to strike across Portugal Aug. 15-17 to demand improved pay and conditions. In order to mitigate disruptions, easyJet has preemptively canceled 164 of 308 flights over this period, as of Aug. 5. The action will primarily impact flights operations at Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO), and Faro (FAO) airports.
Unless averted, the strike could also cause significant disruption to easyJet's operations at other facilities in Portugal, including Madeira International (FNC), Ponta Delgada (PDL), and Porto Santo (PXL) airports. Increased demand for tickets on airlines serving similar routes is likely for the duration of the strike. Lingering disruptions are possible in the hours following the end of the strike.
Confirm flight arrangements if booked to fly with easyJet via Portugal during the announced strike period. Consider alternative arrangements for critical travel. Arrive at the airport early to mitigate the impact of longer passenger processing.
