PT: Heightened security in northeast West Bank after shooting, Aug. 11

Security personnel deployed to the vicinity of the Mehola Junction in the West Bank on Aug. 11 following an earlier shooting. Unidentified assailants driving a vehicle fired on other vehicles killing one person and injuring another. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have deployed personnel in the area and are pursuing the suspects. Roads, including parts of Route 90 and Route 578, have been closed and local communities raided.

The security force operation is likely to result in additional movement restrictive measures until the suspects are apprehended and the investigation concluded. Additional violence can not be discounted. Local communities impacted by the IDF operations could conduct protests in response. There is a heightened threat of violence at all protest gatherings in the West Bank.
