Australia: Unionized rail workers suspend strike action in Sydney as of Sept. 23 /update 2

Unionized rail workers call off indefinite strike in Sydney, Australia, as of Sept. 23. Normal services likely.

Informational

The Rail, Tram, and Bus Union (RTBU) have withdrawn its strike action as of Sept. 23 following successful negotiations with the government. The purpose of the work stoppage was to protest planned renovations on the T3 Bankstown line which are scheduled to last till September 2025; unionized rail workers had refused timetable changes and threatened to stop work on the T3 Bankstown line if officials proceed with the planned suspension of services between Sydenham and Bankstown stations to facilitate renovation works. Regular train services will likely resume following the strike cancellation.
