Political activists plan to protest at Stock im Eisen Platz in central Vienna from 16:00 on Sept. 27. Left-wing and anti-right-wing groups will denounce the Austria Freedom Party (FPO), ahead of the national election on Sept. 29. Participation numbers are likely to range between several hundred to low thousand.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and ideologically opposed counter-protesters cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the demonstration area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
