BiH: Activists to demonstrate in Sarajevo Sept. 28

Activists will protest at the National Museum and possibly march to Parliament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 12:00 on Sept. 28.

Informational

Animal rights activists plan to protest in central Sarajevo from 12:00 on Sept. 28. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand changes to animal protection laws following a high-profile incident of violence against a pet. Participants will rally at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Zmaja od Bosne 12:00-14:00; they may then march to the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the afternoon of Sept. 28. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
