Colombia: Authorities to implement nightly curfew in areas of Chia, Cundinamarca, Sept. 20-29

Officials to implement nightly 22:00-04:00 curfew, heighten security in areas of Chia, Cundinamarca, Colombia, from Sept. 20-29.

Warning

Authorities in the municipality of Chia, in the Cundinamarca department, plan to enforce a nightly 22:00-04:00 curfew in several areas of the city from Sept. 20-29 due to increases in crime in recent months.

Individuals will not be allowed to leave their residences during the curfew in the neighborhoods of Tiquiza, Fagua, Fonqueta, and Cerca de Piedra, located on the western side of the city. Additionally, motorcyclists will not be allowed to have passengers during the weekends between 22:00-05:00, and police presence will be increased in the most affected areas. Local officials will also meet with business owners, including bars, restaurants, and clubs, to discuss modifying their working hours.

Disruptions are likely in the affected areas during the nightly curfews. Other restrictions are possible. Heightened security throughout the city is likely.

Strictly heed instructions of authorities. Avoid the impacted areas during curfew hours.
