Colombia: Farmers to protest in Bogota Sept. 10

Farmers plan to protest outside Ministry of Agriculture in Bogota, Colombia, 09:00 Sept. 10. Localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Farmers affiliated with several organizations, including the Dignidad Agropecuaria Colombiana, plan to demonstrate in Bogota on Sept. 10. Participants will gather from 09:00 outside the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, located on Carrera 7. The protest will demand that authorities renegotiate free trade agreements. Thousands of demonstrators are likely to participate.

Transport disruptions near the gathering are likely, and authorities may deploy a heightened security presence, especially near government buildings in the area. Skirmishes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out.

As a precaution, avoid the vicinity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development during the demonstrations. Allow extra time to travel if operating in Bogota. If clashes occur, immediately depart the site and seek shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
