Emergency personnel are responding to a railway accident that occurred in Zagazig, Sharqia Governorate, late Sept. 14. According to authorities, passenger train Nr. 281 traveling from Zagazig to Ismailia collided with passenger train Nr. 336, which was en route from Mansoura to Zagazig. At least two persons were killed and over 29 others injured in the collision; casualty figures could rise in the coming hours.
Rail transport disruptions are likely along the affected lines over the coming days as technicians clear the wreckage and repair any damage to rail infrastructure.
