Authorities plan to dispose of four unexploded WWII bombs at Schildesche, Bielefeld, from 14:00 Sept. 19. Officials report that the 500kg (1,100lb) devices were discovered near the railway lines during ongoing construction work. Authorities have established a 500-meter (540-yard) cordon. Evacuations are ongoing. The operation has prompted railway disruptions to IC and ICE trains on the Berlin-Hanover line. It is not known when the operation will end.

Heightened security, railway travel disruptions, and road closures will likely continue through Sept. 19. Lingering disruptions are likely following the end of the disposal operation.

Avoid the operation area. Allow additional time if traveling near the evacuation zone. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
