Informational

Anti-abortion and abortion rights activists are planning demonstrations in Berlin and Cologne on Sept. 21. Leaders of the "Federal Association for the Right to Life" plan to hold "March for Life" events at 13:00 at the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, and at Deutzer Werft, Cologne, followed by a march. Organizers predict that several thousand will attend each event.

The "Alliance Pro Choice Cologne" is planning a counter-protest in Cologne. It is likely that counter-protesters will also target the event in Berlin. It is not known how many will attend, however in 2023 counter-protesters disrupted the "March for Life" in Cologne.

Heightened security is likely near the demonstrations. Road closures will likely prompt localized traffic disruptions. The events will likely pass off peacefully.

Avoid the demonstration areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near a protest or on major roadways into affected cities. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
