Germany: Antifascist activists to march in central Aachen during the afternoon of Nov. 22
Antifascist groups to march in central Aachen, Germany, Nov. 22. Increased security, localized transport disruptions likely.
Antifascist activists plan to stage a protest march through central Aachen during the afternoon of Nov. 22. Participants will assemble at the Theaterplatz starting at 16:30 before marching to the Eurogress Aachen Convention Center where a rally will take place beginning at 17:30. Organizers have not released details concerning the exact march route. The event is timed to coincide with a conference hosted by the Alternativ fur Deutschland (AfD) party at the Eurogress facility.
Authorities will almost certainly deploy increased security along the march route as a precaution. Localized transport disruptions are likely. Although the event will probably remain largely peaceful, low-level confrontations between activists from opposing political camps cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the demonstration area as a standard precaution. Heed the instructions of local authorities. Allow extra time to reach destinations near Theaterplatz and the Eurogress Aachen Convention Center as the protest march is taking place. Leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
