Ghana: Civil society group plans protest at police headquarters in Accra on Sept. 11
Civil society group plans protest at police headquarters in Accra, Ghana, 10:00-14:00 Sept. 11. Localized disruptions likely.
The Alliance For Restoration Of Civil Rights civil society group has called for a protest in Accra on Sept. 11 over the police's perceived lack of accountability. Participants will gather at the Nima roundabout from 10:00 and march towards the national police headquarters. The event, which may draw several hundred, is slated to end at 14:00.
An increased security presence and localized road congestion are likely along the march route and in front of the police headquarters. The gathering is likely to pass peacefully, but skirmishes with police forces cannot be ruled out due to the sensitive nature of the protest.
Avoid the affected locations. Plan for extra travel time near the march route. Leave the area at the first sign of unrest. Heed instructions from authorities.
