Iraq: Activists plan to protest outside Lebanese embassy in Baghdad Sept. 19
Activists plan to protest outside Lebanese embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, Sept. 19. Increased security, localized transport disruptions likely.
Activists plan to demonstrate outside the Embassy of Lebanon in Baghdad from 17:00 Sept. 19. Protesters are denouncing Israel's recent attack on wireless communication devices in Lebanon. Hundreds of individuals could attend the demonstration.
Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the Embassy of Lebanon through the evening of Sept. 19. Clashes between police and protesters are possible, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
Avoid the protest due to the potential for clashes. Heed the advice of security personnel and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Allow additional time if traveling through the affected area Sept. 19.
A series of explosions targeting Lebanese Hizballah (LH) wireless communication devices occurred across Lebanon Sept. 17-18, killing at least 32 people and injuring approximately 3,200 others. In addition to Beirut, explosions also occurred in Beqaa Governorate, Sidon, Tyre, and areas near the border with Israel. While Israel has yet to comment on the blasts, security sources reveal that Israeli spy agency Mossad was behind the operation. Initial reports suggest that Mossad intercepted the supply chain and placed explosives in the devices before distribution by LH.
