Animal rights activists affiliated with the Network of Free Animal Sanctuaries in Italy and sympathizers will hold a protest at Citta di Lombardia Square, Milan,10:30-15:30 Sept. 20. The demonstration aims at denouncing the slaughter of animals possibly infected with the African swine fly, which occurred on Sept. 20, 2023. Several thousand people are likely to participate; in a previous edition, up to 10,000 participants attended the event. Participants are likely to use railway and public transport within the city to reach the protest site.
Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the event. Localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely at Milan Railway Station and in the vicinity of the protest site. Limited confrontations between law enforcement officers and demonstrators are possible.
