Activists plan to march from Piazza Gino Bartali to 27 Via Villamagna in Florence from 16:00 on Sept. 21. The demonstration will denounce NATO and the planned opening of a NATO barracks in Florence. The planned march route will cover much of the surrounding area. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest area. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, ideologically opposed individuals, or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between Piazza Gino Bartali and Via Villamagna. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
