Jordan, Lebanon: Amman announces indefinite suspension of all Jordanian-operated flights to Beirut Sept. 23
Jordan confirms indefinite suspension of all flights operated by Jordanian carriers to Beirut, Lebanon, Sept. 23; many cancellations likely.
Jordan's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission announced on Sept. 23 that it had suspended flights operated by Jordanian carriers to Beirut until further notice. The move comes amid a spike in tensions between Israel and the Lebanese Hizballah (LH) group and major exchanges of cross-border fire between the sides over the Israeli-Lebanese border.
The suspension of flights operated by Jordanian airlines to Beirut will likely result in the cancellation of Royal Jordanian (RJ) and other Jordanian-operated flights from Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), serving Amman, to Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) until the incidence of cross-border fire between Israel and the LH declines.
Consider avoiding nonessential travel to Lebanon until the situation stabilizes. Consider departing Lebanon via commercial means while these are available. Note that commercial flight options in Lebanon may become increasingly limited. If travel to Lebanon is necessary and urgent, consider making alternative flight arrangements. Maintain contact with diplomatic representations.
